Frank Gannon is just right of center in the photograph. A fellow beside him has his "modern cartridge" rifle in front of Frank's hat. I also see a Winchester (3rd man from the right ). The man standing beside the boy has a modern rifle/ shotgun? The rest appear to be muzzleloaders. There are 19 men and 2 boys in the photo. The individual photo of Frank Gannon ( on the main page ) appears to be taken the same day. Note the rail fence common to both photo's. The few leaves on the trees suggest late fall. Also there are leaves on the ground. It also appears to me that Frank's fifle is being held by a man in the front of the group picture. Compare Frank's rifle to the one being held by the fellow just behind the rifle of the " shooter". The small boy ( barely visible) by Frank's shoulder could be his son ? Very few cameras were around in 1904 that could take such a photo. This had to be an "Event" of some kind and the camera used was sophisticated for its time. The gent in the very center of the photo appears to wear Civil War officer's clothing. There could be other vets in the photo as well. That is all I know about this photo. As many times as I was in BILL'S shop, I never asked him if he could identify anyone in the scene. I do know it was taken in Southern Ohio- around Ironton/ Portsmouth.
Best Regards,
Bob Wyant
